This time, Dr. Markus Fohr had decided to open his box with beer specialties accumulated over the recent weeks and months, and to taste these crisscrossing around styles and the aroma spectrum.

The brewery’s own Düsseldorf style Altbier opened the session, for the first time in a bottled version. Lots of hop aroma and strong bitterness – a good representative for its style. On the second position already a flavour bomb: four tiny bottles provided the results of an icebock experiment. A 50 l keg with Schneebock had been frozen several times, resulting in about ten litres of icebock. Creamy, almost oily, round and strong – a very intense smell and taste experience.

The dark Landbier from Willinger Brauhaus, which came next, provided some difficulties in opening the party keg, and disappointed a bit in direct comparison to its predecessor. Without any faults, it seemed to be a bit watery and thin – which it probably was not, but our taste buds have still been under the impression from the strong icebock.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-12820 size-full" src="https://blog.brunnenbraeu.eu/wp-content/uploads/Seminar-1.jpg" alt="20. A classy Scottish Ale with a distinct flavour profile. As always, the BraufaktuM bottle stood out by a high-value, elegant design.

Now, our sensory roller coaster rushed down into a longer and deeper valley. Unfortunately, the next five beers from three different breweries hadn’t survived long transport, long storage, or have just been bottled under non-perfect conditions. They all had a slight acidic and atypical taste. We drank them anyway; however, we had the clear impression that they should have tasted completely different.

A steep rise for our roller coaster at the end of our seminar: A top experience, as far as the alcohol content was concerned, waited for us. Two tiny bottles Brewmeister Armageddon with supposed alcohol content of about 65% were poured into tiny shot glasses. Carefully, we tasted this strong material. Surprisingly mild, with strong hop bitterness and full bodied maltiness – but it lacked the expected sharpness from 65% alcohol. Immediately, the seminar participants expressed first doubts about this alleged record.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-12821 size-full" src="https://blog.brunnenbraeu.eu/wp-content/uploads/Seminar-2.jpg" alt="20.
