If you are going to plan a visit of the Kaiserhof-Br\u00e4u<\/a><\/span> in Kronach via internet, you will find a minimalistic homepage: address, phone number, email-Adress and only two sentences \u201cThe \u2018Kaiserh\u00f6fer\u2019 is a traditional family run brewery. As of today, brew master Thomas Kaiser and his brother, MSc Ulrich Kaiser, manage the middle-class company.\u201d \u2013 that\u2019s all you are going to find.<\/p>\n

You have to investigate a bit mor to find out, that the Kaiserhof Brewery<\/a><\/span> was founded in 1879, and since then is run by the Kaiser family. On the premises in the heart of the city of Kronach, you also find the brewery\u2019s inn Kaiserhof, and that is the place we visited 27th December 2011.<\/p>\n

It is warm and cozy inside the pub, one can find small corners for two to be comfortable seated and fed. The menu (food and beverages) is promising. It looks good to see a relatively long list of beers brewed in place \u2013 seven or eight position! And a special kind of Franconian humor can be found as well: Where on earth would you find a \u201cKn\u00f6chla\u201d, Franconian for pork knuckle, with sauerkraut and bread as a snack \u201cfor the small appetite\u201d? I frowned for a moment, but then I was confirmed: According to the menu, the real portion of port knuckles includes two pieces!<\/p>\n

In fact, the pub was quaint and comfortable; however, the waitress succeeded in spoiling our mood by being curt. Having been asked, which of the beers she might recommend, she harshly referred to the menu, which did not contain any further information than names and prices of the beers, though. And ordering the dishes was also executed in bang military manner. And adding to our mixed impressions, the natural turbid pilsner beer, which we tried, happened to be dull and musty. All in all we thus left the brewery a bit disappointed.<\/p>\n
