For the 10th time already, about 40 beer aficionados spent their annual Tour de Bier from 30th May to 2nd June 2013. For this anniversary tour, the organizing staff had chosen the Zoigl Region in Windischeschenbach and vicinity as destination – back to the place, where it all began in 2004.
Tour de Bier 2013 started with a short stroll through the Windischeschenbach district Neuhaus and with a visit of the Kommunbrauhaus (a brew house owned by the village and available for all citizens of Neuhaus); and during the next days, it touched about half a dozen so called Zoigl-Stuben, where one can taste the commonly brewed, unfiltered beer.
In addition, there have been visits to the Schlossbrauerei Reuth in Reuth, the Gambrinus Brauerei in Weiden, the Bräuwirt Brew Pub in Weiden and the Czech family brewery Chodovar in Chodová Planá. Nice guided walks through the historical centres of Weiden and Mariánské Lázně and some great meals in Hotel Waldnaabtal, Schlemmergasthof Bergstüberl, Weißer Schwan, and Ve Skále also added to the great experience of this year’s tour.
After three and a half days including a multimedia presentation with a review of all tours since 2004, the participants went back home, deeply convinced that they will definitely reconvene next spring!
